Hi, I'm Rosie! Having already been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in late 2005, back in 2008 I was diagnosed with primary bone cancer. I had nine months of gruelling
chemotherapy and a major operation removing the tumour and reconstructing my arm, using bone from my leg. I am now one year out of treatment and doing well. I
realise how lucky I have been compared to many teenagers less fortunate than myself and want to help other teenagers faced with cancer. Therefore, I have
organised a 5 mile charity walk to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust, which is a charity I passionately believe in. The money will go towards a new Teenage
Cancer Unit at Addenbrooke's Hospital, which is the centre for children's cancer in East Anglia. It is so important as currently teenagers are scattered on either adult or
children wards, which cater for completely different needs from those of teenagers. Please either register or donate because everyone's support is needed to raise
vital funds for this great cause. Thank you. Along the walk there is lots of entertainment from dance and music acts as well as a guest appearances from:
COME AND MEET![]() Darren Huckerby - Ex Norwich City Football Club Superstar |
COME AND MEET
Jackson Williams - Local Hero and Ultra Athlete |
What is the walk?
The Blue Moon Walk is an evening 5 mile charity walk raising money for a Teenage Cancer Trust Unit at Addenbrooke's. It will take place on Friday 10th September 2010 so be sure to register and pop the date in your diary!
Thank you
Thank you to everybody taking part in this event. Every penny raised will help teenagers fighting cancer in an age appropriate environment. Also, thank you to all the businesses and organisations who are helping to make this event a great success.
